MCE Clean Energy: Your Electrical Power from Renewable Sources

MCE Clean Energy

MCE Clean Energy
It started as a blue-sky idea bigger than any one of us, but with the help of local leadership, champion businesses, and people just like you, MCE is doing something big about climate change, one energy bill at a time. Residents and businesses in Marin County, unincorporated Napa County and the cities of Benicia, El Cerrito, Richmond and San Pablo now have three electricity choices: PG&E’s 22% renewable energy, MCE’s 50% renewable energy (Light Green), and MCE’s 100% renewable energy (Deep Green).

MCE Clean Energy: Our Mission

Our purpose is to address climate change by reducing energy related greenhouse gas emissions and securing energy supply, price stability, energy efficiency and local economic and workforce benefits. It is the intent of MCE to promote the development and use of a wide range of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency programs, including but not limited to solar and wind energy production at competitive rates for customers.

MCE Clean Energy: Our Partnership with PG&E

We procure electricity from renewable sources—solar, wind, bioenergy, geothermal, and small hydro—then partner with PG&E to deliver electricity to your homes and businesses just like they always have. We do the work; you take advantage of cleaner, healthier energy. And because PG&E still maintains the electric lines, you continue to get all the support and reliability you’ve come to expect from your power company. Except now, roughly half of your energy automatically comes from renewable sources.MCE Clean Energy about_us_content

MCE Clean Energy: Your Energy Options

You don’t have to do anything to take advantage of MCE’s renewable energy option because we are now the primary power provider in Marin County, unincorporated Napa County and the Cities of Richmond and San Pablo. You can always choose to opt out of MCE and instead use PG&E’s 22% renewable energy service—or you can step it up and choose Deep Green, which guarantees you 100% renewable, Green-e Energy–certified power from non-polluting sources. For businesses seeking LEED certification, this is the optimal choice.

MCE Clean Energy: Be a Part of Real Change

We’re working hard to bring clean energy options to Marin County, unincorporated Napa County and the cities of Benicia, El Cerrito, Richmond and San Pablo. And part of our commitment to educate you about your choices includes our participation in hundreds of community meetings each year. We’d love to meet you in person. View our calendar of events.

We know that you have two objectives for your power service:

  1. You want to use clean, efficient energy that contributes to a healthier environment, decreasing your use of fossil fuels as much as possible without compromising your lifestyle.
  2. You don’t want to have to think about it too much.

We hear you.

MCE makes it possible for you to take advantage of better, cleaner, healthier energy without doing anything at all. When you sign up for PG&E service in Marin County, unincorporated Napa County or the cities of Benicia, El Cerrito, Richmond and San Pablo, you are automatically enrolled in our standard Light Green 50% renewable energy program, which comes from sources like solar, wind, bioenergy, geothermal, and small hydro. Or, you can sign up for Deep Green 100% renewable energy from Green-e Energy-certified non-polluting sources. PG&E continues to deliver your energy through their standard power lines, and their repair and maintenance teams in the familiar blue trucks still provide the same reliable service you’re used to—rain or shine. But now, with MCE, you’re investing in cleaner energy at a cost that is generally very competitive with traditional PG&E energy costs, and often even cheaper.

See a breakdown of current energy costs. If for any reason you choose not to enroll in MCE’s program, you can opt out by calling 1 (888) 632-3674 or by filling out our online form.
