Basel Action Network is a leading advocate of responsible e-waste collection and refining. The Computer and Technology Resource Center is not only fully supportive of such efforts,  it also practices

Here’s another ‘wonderful’ fact–it is estimated that 70% of the heavy metals in landfills comes from discarded electronics–computer screens, desktops, TV sets, you name it. Plus, we are running out of places that accept waste.

So there is great pressure to divert these wastes offshore, just as some of the States have tried to relocate their garbage out-of-state.

There must be a better way.
